ASCIP Adds Three New Staff
February 3, 2015As we start 2015, we are very pleased to introduce three new individuals who have joined the ASCIP staff in January. All three come to ASCIP with impressive professional qualifications and accomplishments. But most importantly, we are confident they will be great contributors to ASCIP’s tradition of making member service our defining organizational value.
Meet our new ASCIP staff:
Stephan Birgel – Senior Director, Litigation Management & Claim Services
Stephan has been a member of the State Bar of California since 1995. For the past 14 years, he has handled defense litigation as a senior attorney with one of ASCIP’s defense panel firms, Walsh & Associates. His clients included numerous school districts and community colleges throughout Southern California involving a wide range of school and public entity employment and liability matters. At Walsh & Associates, he handled cases from inception through trial and provided supervision to junior associates. Stephan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from California State University, Northridge, and his Juris Doctorate from La Verne Law School. In his new role with ASCIP, Stephan will be responsible for managing ASCIP’s liability defense panel, their activities, and acting as ASCIP’s representative in settlement negotiations and mediations.
Nidra Kumaradas – Director, Workers’ Compensation
Nidra comes to ASCIP with over 25 years of California workers’ compensation claims experience. For 11 years prior to joining ASCIP, she was a Vice President with Everest National Insurance Company, where she was responsible for direct oversight of claims being handled by third party claim administrators. Her previous experience includes 15 years of managing the workers compensation claims for a large California Joint Power Authority for public schools and colleges. Nidra has a Bachelor of Science degree from Dalhousie University and holds a California Self-Insured Competency Certification. Nidra will be dedicated to managing ASCIP’s workers compensation program. This will include claims oversight and supervision of ASCIP’s third party administrators; assisting members with accessing ASCIP’s various risk management, loss control, and safety services; and working directly with our members to identify and achieve their workers compensation goals.
